Although Sarah Samples never showed up at the public meetings over forest service road plans, and the forest service never made mention at those meetings of a plan for an OHV park north of Gasquet, now a few moments before election time Sarah Samples and the trippy people claim she has worked for years to help OHV users.
This is typical election moment propaganda by the trippy people. It is obviously meant to decieve the people interested in OHV's into believing Sarah cares about their issue.
Anyone who knows the OHV issue in Del Norte County should realize instantly that Sarah will leave you high and dry. This is in contrast to her constituants living near Lake Earl whom she enjoys flooding out of their homes and ranches.

Our LOR posted the following letter from Northcoast Cliffhangers 4X4 Club's President S. Bigham in Saturday's edition. All OHVers in Districts 3 & 4 should take heed.
Keep the "public" in Public Lands and the Public Lands in the public's hands!
Historic open, free and equal public access to Tollowa Dunes & Kellogg Beach for multiuse is very important to the recreational and economic well being of our community.
Cliffhangers supporting Hemmingsen, Sullivan
It has come to light at our most recent Northcoast Cliffhangers 4X4 Club meeting that at recent Board of Supervisors meetings, that the club president's name has been freely used in support for and by the current District 4 supervisor, without his or the club's knowledge.
As president of the Northcoast Cliffhangers 4X4 Club, I would like to point out that no contact was made with the president or any current club members regarding our views on the OHV issues at hand by the current District 4 supervisor. I have called this supervisor on several occasions with no reply.
We would like to make it known that the views of the current supervisor are not the same as those held by the Northcoast Cliffhangers 4X4 Club.
At this time due to the discrepancies in our views and the current supervisors, we feel that she is not the candidate we as a club want to endorse.
WE currently feel, as a club that candidates Gerry Hemmingsen and Mike Sullivan hold views closer to those of the club, therefore as whole our club is choosing to endorse Hemmingsen and Sullivan for Districts 3 and 4.
Our club is interested in actively promoting tread lightly and keeping our access to the dunes, beaches, back roads and off roads open to all, for responsible use.

Talked To:
The Northcoast Cliffhangers 4X4 Club
In a phone interview with Steve Bigham, Pres. Northcoast Cliffhangers 4X4 Club, I heard several comments on the alternate "SSSolution" to the Tollowa Dunes / Kellogg Beach (TD/KB) "worm trail".
OHVers arguably represent one of the largest demographic groupings in our Del Norte community. They have shown their muscles at several evening meetings held by such organizations as the Federal Forest Service and more recently the State Parks Workshop on the TD/KB. It is surmised that this OHV activist stand is responsible for the reluctance of SS et al on the Board of Supervisors from holding open "Town Hall" meetings in the evening.
Steve reports; that the proposed SS alternative is not a substitute for the ocean beach and sand experience of "worm trail". The TD/KB area is far safer for young and inexperienced riders making it great for family, elderly and handicapped use. Steve said; he is familiar with the proposed alternative, it is narrow and dangerous in several places. Also much, if not all, is already designated as county road and open to street legal vehicles like 4X4 trucks and jeeps.
Steve also noted; that for an "upland" experience the Northcoast Cliffhangers 4X4 Club has already adopted "Rattle Snake Ridge" and is presently working on it for OHV use. However, if the Board of Supervisors wanted to offer the SSSolution as an adjunct to the TD/KB and "Rattle Snake" experience they should contact the club and they would be more than willing to talk.
